tonari is now available in more than 40 countries across Asia, Europe, Oceania, and North America, with more coming soon.
portals can be delivered and setup in 4~8 weeks in Japan and 6~12 weeks in other countries, depending on the physical locations and spaces, network readiness, and other considerations.
two or more portals
two portals are needed to connect and create one seamless space.
if you have many portals, you can also use location hopping to instantly travel between them. we recommend an even number (4, 6 10…) so they can be always-connected without loneliness or downtime.
choose a space and setup
tonari can be setup on a wall, in a room, or free-standing, and requires about 3m x 3m of space for effective use.
choosing the best space requires considering the camera visibility of the active and passive zones, people flow, acoustics, and other aspects of the environment.
with the right furniture and space, tonari can be used for social collisions, open collaboration, private conversations, or various-sized meeting and project rooms.
our design team is ready to help. when you contact us, we’ll support you to choose and measure your spaces, sketch designs and floor plans, and plan your delivery.
network requirements
tonari requires 60Mbps on a high-speed internet line with stable delay characteristics. we typically recommend a business fiber plan with at least 500Mbps symmetrical upload and download speeds.
testing your internet for tonari is easy if you already have wired access to your network. depending on local availability, we can also help you research and choose an internet service provider with adequate speed and quality.
software and support
tonari portals run on tonari's own software, which is tightly integrated with our hardware. when purchasing tonari, an additional software subscription is required.
tonari hardware includes a 2-year standard warranty, with onsite repairs in limited regions. online support and troubleshooting is included with your software subscription.
if setting up tonari with a third party service for hybrid calls such as Zoom, Meet, Teams or Webex, you may need additional hardware and software licenses.
security and privacy
tonari is fully encrypted peer-to-peer via WireGuard, which means your connection is totally secure and private, with no communication passing through any proxies or third-party servers. tonari can also run over private networks in high-security or mission-critical scenarios.
